We actually took these a while ago, when Kim was only about seven months pregnant. She's so beautiful! We had a wonderful time taking these around historic downtown.

  1. How is your friend, Kim, doing? These are gorgeous photos. Just out of curiosity, will she give copies to the adoptive family? I think that would be so neat. I have a little girl who I babysat for many years who was adopted and I think she would swoon over photos like these of her birth mother. Beautiful either way. : )

  2. Oh, yes! :) It is an open adoption, so Kim is actually making a scrapbook for her daughter. She is including photos of her as a baby, information about her family, and photos of her before and during the pregnancy along with a really beautiful letter and letters from her mom and sister as well as Lindi and I.

Also, we did a photoshoot of Kim, her daughter and the adoptive parents all together. We are part of the Red Thread Sessions network, that does photoshoots with adopted childrens and birth/adoptive families. I love it! I will be posting those soon. :)

  3. That is so rad! Both that Kim is making the scrapbook and that you are part of Red Thread Sessions. I'd never heard of that network, but I read more about it and it's such a great idea! That little girl I babysat had an open adoption, too, but she was from Guatemala, so keeping in touch with the mother proved difficult over the years. I know early on, her adoptive mother used to send a disposable camera every once in a while to the girl's biological family. They would take pictures and send it back. It was so neat, but I'm not sure if they still do that anymore. I think adoption is so amazing and I've always, ever since I was a young child, wanted to adopt. A.P. is very open to it, but the cost, at least right now, is certainly not an option. I know it's an emotional journey, but I think it's so worth it. There are so many children in the world who need a home that sometimes it almost seems silly that so many people want to just make more babies, though, of course, I understand that desire, too. : ) Can't wait to see the rest of your photos!
