We usually use food coloring gels to get different colors of frosting, but this is so fun! You can use a regular box of food coloring (red, blue, green and yellow) to get all these colors! (From the May issue of Food Network Magazine via Oh the lovely things.) My favorites on this chart are Raspberry Sorbet, Watermelon and Mango.

now i want to bake cupcakes :)
ReplyDeleteI'm totally pinning this to keep as a reference! Such a great guide!
ReplyDeletehow can I get drops from a gel paste food coloring? when I color I have to use a toothpick to get the color to my fondant/icing/etc
ReplyDeletethank you! :)
We also use a toothpick and just estimate! :) But this guide is definitely for liquid coloring, I think.
ReplyDeletethanks for the info Helen!.... I didn't think they were talking about thick gel food coloring :/ too bad because I have a big case of that thick paste .... I'll have to come up with my own measurement system for it ;) so I can get the same color everytime
Deletethanks again!
